Guest guest
Hi , yeast are fungi and are very different from bacteria, but both can overgrow and cause similar problems and yes both need to be kept in check. IMO bacteria are more tenacious and harder to keep in balance than yeast. They can cause similar symptoms, but in my experience bacteria don't always cause the digestive issues that yeast tend to. Also, just to complicate things, yeast can be in your digestive tract or can be spread more throughout your body and this can be a bit different. Lots of people use Pau D'Arco with kids. My son (at 5 years old) did great with it. I got a really good quality one from BrainChild nutritionals. They have a whole yeast fighting kit that seems to help a lot of people, but my son's yeast came back while on it. They also sell OGE. On thier webpage there is a link to join their list, and it is very helpful about using their products. Someone from the company responds to questions on it. Also you can call them- they're great. Some people seem to treat gut dysbiosis pretty well with anti0microbials, but others (like my family) need to be on a strict diet too, like SCD or GAPS. For more info about yeast and bacteria, Dana (of Dana's view) has good info on her site: http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm -Sierra > > On another group someone mentioned their use of the following... > > Oregon Grape extract (aka berberine) and Pau D'Arco > > They said their child had phenol issues and GSE was an issue for them so they tried OGE and PDA and they both worked great. I read that PDA was not recommended for children...anyone have thoughts? And I also was considering OGE...any thoughts and anyone know where I should purchase? > > I also just put out another message asking about the diff between bacterial & yeast overgrowth. I forgot to add the question if they are different is bacterial overgrowth similar to yeast overgrowth in that you need to keep it in check? Can it keep coming back like yeast?? > > Thanks!!!! > > > > " God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't change; > courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
