Hi, We are dealing with IEP's at the moment for my kindergarten child labeled by

the school as 'possibly autistic'. He is in a special day class, i.e not

mainstream.

so far, we have had one IEP meeting where they handed us the IEP draft with

goals for next year.

I have written out a document with adjustments and additions to the IEP goals

and scheduled a second meeting. This way it gave us some time to think about

what we really want for him and what is best for him, before signing anything. I

will provide the written copy of the adjustments that we would like at the 2nd

meet.

You can always take an educational consultant or a private speech and/or OT, who

may be working with your child to advocate and for your child's need.

give him an opportunity to work specifically on his functional communication,

which right now he is lacking enormously. My question is, how can I phrase or

word these functional goals, so that they explicitly indicate that the ECSE

classroom is the best place to teach him this goal.

we rephrase above goal, such that , it can be shown that ECSE classroom is the

Kindergarten classroom.

Don't know where you are, but here the school system is a difficult if not

impossible hurdle to maneuver. I am so glad it's not that difficult everywhere.
