Guest guest
Hello, I have a 5 year old child with Autism who is age eligible for kindergarten coming fall. However I would like to request for Preschool exemption (LCPS) to give him an opportunity to work specifically on his functional communication, which right now he is lacking enormously. My question is, how can I phrase or word these functional goals, so that they explicitly indicate that the ECSE classroom is the best place to teach him this goal. for ex: The student should be able to independently request information from adults and peers by asking 7 Wh questions (i.e what, which, who, whose, where, when, why) for 4 out of 5 opportunities per day for 3 consecutive days. Right now, my son doesn't ask any questions using any of Wh questions. How can we rephrase above goal, such that , it can be shown that ECSE classroom is the best place to teach this goal when compared to K2 Autism classroom or Cross cat Kindergarten classroom. Any input is greatly appreciated.
