Guest guest
Wouldn't that be one reason,of many, for having an autistic child, given how many of us are deficient in folinic acid ?                                         \                  ________________________________ From: Houston <m_jhouston333@...> Sent: Tue, January 26, 2010 4:48:31 PM Subject: folic acid prenatal supplementation question  Hi All, Just wondering if anyone in the group has had an autistic child but did NOT take folic acid prenatal vitamins. Guest guest
I am wondering about the increase in folic acid supplementation in the last 20 years especially for pregnant women and possible correlation with higher rates of autism. There have been some studies about the possibility of a link between the two. I am wondering about the possibility of too much folic acid supplementation causing a folic acid dependancy situation in some of our kids as opposed to a folic acid deficiency. I really have no idea about a possible link between the two, in fact I doubt it. I am really wondering about this because we are expecting our 3rd child and we are debating about taking or not taking a folic acid supplement during the pregnancy. Our preference is to try to eat more foods high in folic acid rather than supplement artificially. Guest guest
I have two kids with autism. I took folic with the second pregnancy, but not with the first. Their symptoms are different, to be sure, but they're both disabled by it. ----- Receiving the following content ----- From: Houston Receiver: Time: 2010-01-26, 16:50:55 Subject: Re: folic acid prenatal supplementation question >I am wondering about the increase in folic acid supplementation in the last 20 years especially for pregnant women and possible correlation with higher rates of autism.¡¡ There have been some studies about the possibility of a link between the two.¡¡ I am wondering about the possibility of too much folic acid supplementation causing a folic acid dependancy situation in some of our kids as opposed to a folic acid deficiency.¡¡ > >I really have no idea about a possible link between the two, in fact I doubt it.¡¡ I am really wondering about this because we are expecting our 3rd child and we are debating about taking or not taking a folic acid supplement during the pregnancy. > >Our preference is to try to eat more foods high in folic acid rather than supplement artificially. > > > >From: Kulp >Subject: Re: folic acid prenatal supplementation question > >Date: Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 12:19 AM > > > > > > > >¡¡ > > > > > > > > > > Wouldn't that be one reason,of many, for having an autistic child, given how many¡¡ of us are deficient in folinic acid ? > > > >¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡\ ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ > >¡¡ > > > >____________ _________ _________ __ > >From: Houston > > > >Sent: Tue, January 26, 2010 4:48:31 PM > >Subject: folic acid prenatal supplementation question > > > >¡¡ > >Hi All, > > > >Just wondering if anyone in the group has had an autistic child but did NOT take folic acid prenatal vitamins. > > > >Thanks, > > > > > >
Guest guest
> Just wondering if anyone in the group has had an autistic child but did NOT take folic acid prenatal vitamins. I took a standard prenatal vitamin while pregnant with all four of my kids. My #2 is my autistic child, and he was severely folic acid deficient. There was a time when I was dumping basically an entire bottle of folic every day into his body. Dana
