Guest guest
My daughter who is 16ys old an not on the spectrum has had problems with her bowels from the get go. She had sever colic, so they said, starting at about 3 wks old and lasted until six months of age. She has always had a hard time going to the bathroom, so her ped put her on MiraLAX about 1 1/2years ago and it seems to help. But after going to the DAN! Conference this year, one of the doctors said to stay away from MiraLAX, so we stopped! She's back to clogging the toilets due to such large stools and I mean large! You would think she was a 250 pound grown man. She is 5 5 1/2 and weighs only 105 pounds and doesn't eat much, so we are always amazed at why she has such large stools. She's very embarrised by it, but hates to go to the doctor to talk about it and scared to go to the bathroom at other peoples houses, just in case. Could it be an enzyme problem with her? Are her foods not breaking down correctly? I've heard of people taking slippery elm and magnesium. Can anybody make any suggestions on what might help her. What and how much and how often? I would really appreciate it. My 29 month old ASD boy has gut issues too, so I just wonder if we have this problem running in our family. Thanks for any help you can offer!
