Guest guest
You may have it backwards. What sort of genetic tests have your kids had?I have C677T,A1298C,COMT1,and COMT2 polymorphisms.Autism,is the only diagnosis I have been able to get.I have ALL of the other developmental, immune, and GI problems that nobody has been able to figure out,but have been tossed into the garbage can of " it's just a part of autism " .If your child(ren) have not been tested for these,I would suggest you have them tested. It's possible that we are looking at a " new " type of neural tube defect nobody bothered to diagnose in the past, because it isn't as obvious as the more severe forms of spina bifida. ________________________________ From: Houston <m_jhouston333@...> Sent: Tue, January 26, 2010 5:50:55 PM Subject: Re: folic acid prenatal supplementation question  I am wondering about the increase in folic acid supplementation in the last 20 years especially for pregnant women and possible correlation with higher rates of autism. There have been some studies about the possibility of a link between the two. I am wondering about the possibility of too much folic acid supplementation causing a folic acid dependancy situation in some of our kids as opposed to a folic acid deficiency. I really have no idea about a possible link between the two, in fact I doubt it. I am really wondering about this because we are expecting our 3rd child and we are debating about taking or not taking a folic acid supplement during the pregnancy. Our preference is to try to eat more foods high in folic acid rather than supplement artificially.
