Guest guest
, when we first started Enhansa, my son had three days of really high fevers, rashes, etc. But no really emotional stuff. We've had two unexplained, sunburn-like, blotchy, hot to the touch and really pink, rashes and they both disappeared within 20 minutes. I even took him to the emergency room, and they tested for strep, considered fifth's disease, nothing, the rash was too sudden and gone too fast. Still don't know what it was, but I can tell you that after the first week or so, the Enhansa has been great for him. We ALWAYS give No-fenol with each dose. Not sure it helps alot, but the rashes do seem to be odd and come and go. Oh, and have you tried sticking it in a little Sunbutter? Amy > > I just started my son on 75mg of Enhansa, about every other day just because I haven't figured out the best way to sneak it into him. His poop turned yellow (again), and his first bath after starting this was torture. I had epsom salt in the water and it was quite warm, but usually he loves this. His skin turned blotchy red and he had the biggest meltdown I've ever seen. I had to take him out before he hurt himself or drowned. Then he asked me to sing to him and he calmed down and his skin went back to normal. Anyone had similar experiences? Could this be Enhansa or something else? Guest guest
Reaction to phenols naturally occurring in the enhansa, no fenol enzyme should take care of it if given w enhansa until he adjusts to it. Good luck. > > I just started my son on 75mg of Enhansa, about every other day just because I haven't figured out the best way to sneak it into him. Guest guest
My son can't process phenols either and his reaction is hyperactivity or emotional meltdown. Even with an Epsom Salt bath, his ears turn bright red now (not when he eats phenolic foods)and your son may have been really detoxing the phenols too fast for him to handle. I started my son on 1/2 of the white spoon for Enhansa which is about 35 mg and went super slow on increasing the doses. By the time we got to 425 mg I had to stop, he just can't handle the phenol load. this was our second attempt at it too. Here are two posts that address Enhansa and phenols on my blog: http://healingautismandadhd.wordpress.com/2010/08/04/swimming-brings-him-to-tear\ s/ http://healingautismandadhd.wordpress.com/2010/07/11/curcumin-cancer-fighter-aut\ ism-healer/ Joanne www.healingautismandadhd.wordpress.com > > I just started my son on 75mg of Enhansa, about every other day just because I haven't figured out the best way to sneak it into him. Guest guest
My son is super sensitive to salt baths...he's always had sensitive skin, eczema etc. When we first did the baths he was fine. Now it burns him. I read that it just does that to some kids. He can take it orally just fine. The cream was fine too. Not sure about the poo...could just be from the orange color of the enhansa From: HLMPT4@... Guest guest
thanks again, Amy. Don't have sunbutter...its that a sunflower seed butter? My son was up and down all night crying, and he feels a little warm right now. This will sound sadistic, but I am so hoping he will get a fever and rash. I want Enhansa to work so badly! > > > > I just started my son on 75mg of Enhansa, about every other day just because I haven't figured out the best way to sneak it into him. Guest guest
Thanks Joanne! I've never seen any other signs that phenols were a problem for my son. Do you think that curcumin is so high in phenols that it is effecting him? I don't have a problem getting some No-PHenol...I was about to order some more TriEnza anyway. We did fine of 75mg Enhnasa for almost a week. I guess we'll see how the weekend goes! Thanks again! > > > > I just started my son on 75mg of Enhansa, about every other day just because I haven't figured out the best way to sneak it into him. Guest guest
yes, curcumin is very high in phenols and when you noticed a problem, it may be because his phenols built up and his liver wasn't detoxing them. Need to help the body process the phenols with the support I mentioned, especially as you up the dose of Enhansa. Guest guest
Well, the Enhansa appears to be working. We increased to 150mg daily, and three days later he looked like he had a stomach virus. When that was gone, he had several wonderful days, then he came down with a low grade fever, runny nose, and an itchy rough rash on his butt and belly. I called Lee Silsby and the pharmacist said this sounded like a yeast die-off rash, but it seems to me more like a viral thing to me. Anyway, we are excited that Enhansa is working and we are hoping for some great healing. > > > > > > > > I just started my son on 75mg of Enhansa, about every other day just because I haven't figured out the best way to sneak it into him. Guest guest
I really think Enhansa is working for us! With each small increase in dose, my DS gets a minor illness, stools are consistently better, and the gains in speech, behavior, mood, and school performance have been really great! His first report card actually said " massive improvements. " We just increased to 225mg divided daily and just like clockwork, the sniffles started 3 days later. We hit one road block with a sinus infection that required an antibiotic, but he rebounded from the temporary diahrea quickly, and yeast symptoms were brief. And most exciting to me...I think we are ready to reduce the enzymes now! My DS has been taking 4 trienza chewables and 2 lipase capsules with each meal. For the past few weeks, I've been giving him one capsule of Houston peptidase with meals and stools remain in the realm of normal. With an extra fatty meal I throw in some lipase. We've even been cheating on GFCF a little, letting him have cereals that are corn or rice based but not GF, he eats an occasional bite of a high oxalate food, and he's gotten a little taste of cheese, with no ill effect so far. I have to credit Enhansa for helping to heal his gut. 2 years on enzymes and restricted diet helped tremendously, but we couldn't ever get to the next level of healing. I hope I am not getting my hopes up prematurely, but we would LOVE to get off all these pills and diets! > > > My son is super sensitive to salt baths...he's always had sensitive skin, eczema etc. When we first did the baths he was fine.
