Guest guest
Scientific research is being done, and studies are often reported at Conferences, with children on the spectrum using hyperbaric oxygen. On the other hand, precious little has been done scientifically to analyze the children's responses to mercury chelation protocols like Andy Cutler's, and nothing that I know of with sauna detox. Both of these modalities, though, have been proven helpful to numerous parents and certainly warrant greater scientific investigation. I'm told that some ASD practitioners are beginning to suggest a synergistic role with HBOT followed by a session in a low temperature sauna (of any type), and this too deserves investigation. At the recent DAN! Conference, I spoke to Dr. Edelson, head of the ARI, about the need for studies with saunas and with a HBOT/Sauna regime. He suggested that parent surveys have proven useful to them in compiling commonly recognized responses, and that those responses could then be looked for in a scientific setting. So, I am taking him up on his suggestion, starting with a request for feedback from any parent using both HBOT and sauna who is interested in trying one after the other. I'm suggesting HBOT first, but that may be open to change, using each modality in the same manner suggested by your practitioner. As a non-scientist, it seems reasonable that this combination may enhance the effects of both. A main stressor that bathers commonly report in saunas is a need for more air. So, being super-oxygenated should lessen heat stress, which could be especially helpful with the youngsters. Blood flow in the sauna typically doubles - it is a significant response, so the super O2-saturated blood will now flow to cells and tissues that it might not normally get to, enhancing the HBOT's effects. The chamber's pressure supposedly dislodges toxins from storage, so going in the sauna directly afterwards and excreting them makes really good sense and would obviously enhance HBOT's effects. So, this is a starting point to see if there is evidence of any synergistic effects with these regimes used back-to-back, and then hopefully to create studies and to then fine-tune a regime based on this evidence. If enough parents respond, we'll start a group to bat things around. I can be reached by phone, 800-697-2862, or email: bobmorgan@... Guest guest
Bob, This is exactly what we do at our clinic. We have an infrared sauna that most of our patients use, complimentary, after their HBOT treatments. I could post some feedback from some of my patients who are using both if you want me to. Guest guest
Please do and/or forward them to me. I'll be compiling responses to post for parents. I'd like to know exactly how you do this. Guest guest
My 5 yo son is on round 5 (total of 17 days) of DMSA 25mg + ALA 25mg. He does about 45 minutes of far infrared sauna at 104F followed by an epsom salt bath to wash off toxins. Wifey reported this evening that she has not had " that " particular expression and long look from my boy in 2 years. --penumbra
