Guest guest
Hi group,As some of you may know I have Ulcerative Colitis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. I started LDN Thursday night (2/21/08). After a month of taking Entocort (steroids) and 12 Asacol I phased off of the Entocort and dropped down to 4 pills per day of the Asacol then started the LDN. It doesn't seem like the LDN is doing much for me. Ever since I phased off of the Steroids I've been slowly getting worse. My bowel movements are still controlled but my stomach hurts about 10 - 20 minutes after I eat then I have to go to the bathroom. I had a burrito with rice, grilled chicken, pico de gallo, and lettuce last night which I can usually tolerate but about 15 minutes after I ate it I went to the bathroom about 3 times and I had a pretty upset stomach. I have cut out the aged cheese I was eating after a recommendation from this group and I think that has helped with my AS but I am still having problems with my UC. I'm currently just eating fish, chicken, all natural Boulder Brats, and vegetables (mainly brocolli). I'm wondering if the LDN might just take longer for my body for some reason. I'm hoping it is working just slower then others. Any thoughts on this? Also my wife told me about a supplement called Flora Source which is supposed to help with digestive problems. Has anyone heard of this? Thanks,JeffConnect and share in new ways with Windows Live. Get it now!
Guest guest
IMHO I would really be careful about thinking all-or-none WRT your treatment. I do better on LDN than without it, but still rely on other significant medications to decrease generalized inflammation. LDN helps me with many peripheral symptoms and general tone but doesnt cure autoimmune disorders and is unlikely to dispel active or severe inflammation completely. I know this muddies things as far as management but that's the way things work for me. Although I know of nobody using TNF meds for UC or AS or I think that you should explore that option with your docs. I'll put it this way, my Enbrel keeps me alive but my LDN lets me go back to work and go to Jamaica on vacation instead of suffering at home . I 'm not shilling for Enbrel or TNF drugs, they're possibly gonna hurt me at some time, but it's just a management tool that works for those of us with severe autoimmune disorders alive against natures wishes. I think the fantasy of some special nutriceutical or mineral curing all of what we have keeps us by and large from accurately assessing incremental improvements in management of our varying conditions. I was recently on some other boards trying to spread beneficial LDN info and just finally got pissed at all the negativity and wishful thinking and lack of apparent responsibility of the denizens of that board and left because nobody was interested in becoming simply functional, rather they wanted a cure (preferrably delivered by someone handsome and sharply dressed), which though desirable avoids looking at ones situation and reality of it. This isnt really the time or place to compare against perfection and you're gonna have to accept some risk and responsibility in pushing your docs beyond the comfortable and well tried. I know it aint easy and I had some advantage in this but it can be done. Best wishes red pill ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals?
