For home the Regional Center can purchase one for you. But when you are done with it, it goes back to RC. I know some one in the school system that let me borrow the program to put on the computer. But of course we have changed computers since then--so no program. & Garry, parents of (10 ds), (8 ds/g-tube), JJ (6 ds/autism/celiac), (6 ds), and Esther (3 ds). The child needs the practice across environments in order to become proficient in using the device. Once the child is proficient then, in our state, medical assistance can be approached to buy one for the person so they can communicate their medical needs. Guest guest
, In our district, Regional Center will try and get the client on a MediCal Wavier to avoid the cost of the device. This was the case with anyway. The only problem is getting the school district to hire the right people to train everyone including the child to work with it. Guest guest
Michele, i can't see my school district hiring any one to help with the use. The device they are thinking about for Sam is the AlphaSmart. It only costs $250, I culd cover that but of course I would rather some one else paid for it. & Garry, parents of (10 ds), (8 ds/g-tube), JJ (6 ds/autism/celiac), (6 ds), and Esther (3 ds). Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Can anyone refer me to a group that focuses on Augmentative Communication Devices and speech programs? I had and am still having an extremely bad experience dealing with a Company/Person who sells to the special needs population, and would like to share my experience with them so they are not bullied like my family has been. If they choose to buy from this company, then I would like to warn them to watch all order/delivery/return policies/and checking product immediately after receiving etc.. He is threatening to sue me and ruin my credit if I don't pay him after I fairly won a chargeback from my credit card after supplying them with 26 pgs. of proof. He supplied a falsified reciept. Thank you, Kelley
