B-12 shots

O.K. for 3 years I put off giving my now 6 year old son B-12 shots. My first

DAN doc prescribed them, I got them in and couldn't do it. My current doc

convinced me and we have been doing it for 3 weeks. It is tough!! We use the

lidocaine patch and ice, but he tells me how much it hurts every time (he never

complains about anything!).The reason I am posting this is that even through all

that, it is SOOOO worth it. He has improved so much I can't believe it. One of

his therapists is actually talking about having him reassessed to change his

diagnosis from AS to PDD. I know it is not one single thing but everything we

have been doing, but WOW!

P.S. If anyone has any other ideas of how to get around giving the shot or

making it easier, I am open to suggestions!

The MB12 shots were a disaster here at first w tons of aggression. Neither folic

nor folinic acid helped w this. They only seemed to aggravate things. When we

switched the folate form to 5methyltetrahydrofolate[also know as folapro]we had

success. It took a few weeks of 'loading' - only giving the folapro - before the

MB12 was well tolerated.

who don't respond (but he has responded to other stuff, thankfully!) We threw in

folinic acid too, and it got even worse.

Andy tells us that too much B12 causes aggression. Maybe your son has had his

fill. Also, B12 caused a great increase in yeast for my daughter.

The B12 shots caused serious behavior problems for my daughter (the shot itself

is not the problem but the aftermath). So her new doctor suggested trying the

transdermal (compounded) mb12, a very small amount at a time and increasing

gradually. And oh my gosh, the wonderful changes have me stunned. EVERY day

happy, cheery, calm, tuned-in, chatty, not the usual ups and downs. Started

with 1 drop in January and just this week have worked up to 5 drops.

Hi,

If you could tell me (off-list if you prefer) who is your MD and what is the

name of the compounded cream//where to get it from?

Thank you

Isa

If you go to ARI, Generation Rescue, and the other folks who sponsor the

conferences, you can search their archives.  The usually allow you to download

conference info for free since it's old.  Also, if you know the docs that

presented, ie. Dr. Rossignol, Dr. Kartzinel, Dr. Woeller, etc. you can go to

their websites and they usually have papers listed for download too.  They are

usually free.  It's amazing how generous most of the autism specialists are.

If you need to pay it will be minimal, maybe $10.
