Will extra year of preschool affect his IEP goals and resources

Hello,

My son has turned 5 and is age eligible for Kindergarten coming fall. He is

currently in ECSE Autism class in Loudoun county. His teachers are considering

him for Kindergarten (either K2 autism or non-cat Kindergarten). However I would

like to give him one more year of preschool as I strongly feel that he is not

ready socially, emotionally and his language and communication need a lot of

improvement.

His teachers are in the process of developing an IEP for him right now. I

haven't mentioned to the school team about my intentions yet. My question is

that, if I mention to them about my views, prior to the development of IEP for

next year, will it affect his IEP goals and resource services for next year?

Any input in this regard is greatly appreciated.
