Guest guest
> *Anyone's child have any issues with calcium supplement? (Kirkman's) It seems after his dosing he gets a bit irritable...wondering if that is normal??? I wrote in a previous message, what my son needed for proper absorption of calcium. He was calcium toxic, so at first I did not supplement him at all. Then I eliminated the toxicity, then I gave him the supplements required for proper absorption. Your child might have similar issues. >>Also, should calcium be giving in one dose, or am I thinking of vit D where it has to be spread out cause it doesn't absorb all at once? I would not give more than 300-400mg calcium at any one time, the rest won't be absorbed. > *Anyone's child have any issues with zinc supplement? (Kirkman's) I know he needs this...he's high in copper. But it doesn't seem to tolerate this very well, again like the calcium he becomes irritable. This is in capsule for and I open it and put in his juice along with the mag c and sometimes the zinc. Zinc on an empty stomach can cause nausea and vomiting. Give it with food, and apart from calcium. > With the calcium I give him Mag citrate. He also has an issue with teeth grinding at night This meant mineral deficiency here, my kids needed various minerals [and one needed vitamin K also] to eliminate this problem. For two of my kids, it also meant yeast overgrowth. > What I've noticed, pretty much with ALL supplements, including probiotics, is he does really well with these things for a few weeks and then becomes very irritable and angry and has major meltdowns and just has that other side to him that is very hard to tolerate. Is this a gonna get worse before it gets better kinda thing??? Or not normal?? It sounds like his body does not have sufficient stores of the other nutrients required for proper absorption. So he does okay with the supplement until it depletes his other nutrients, and then he starts doing badly. Or, the supplement starts creating a yeast issue. Which supplements have caused problems, and what do you do for yeast control? Dana
Guest guest
, About the zinc...we give a lot here to my 5 year old-35 lb son. He was very high copper on his hair test at age 2.5. Our highest was 75mg/day, but we're currently at 55mg/day. However, we did work up to that amount very slowly and I give it several times/day, as much as 5X at one point. Currently, DS gets @ 18mg at breakfast, 18mg at lunch, and 20 mg at bedtime. When I tried to go lower to @35mg/day, I got serious chewing behavior, so we are now at the 55mg/day. My son tolerates it very well. Anyway, try breaking up the dosages to multiple times/day to see if that helps. I can't help you with the calcium as we've never supplemented it above DS's multi...he isn't CF. > > I'm wondering about the following... > > *Anyone's child have any issues with calcium supplement? Its in powder form that I put in his juice or " milk " . > > *Anyone's child have any issues with zinc supplement? (Kirkman's) I know he needs this...he's high in copper. He is 3yrs old and 30 lbs. He's hyper and has major meltdowns and a yeast issue. > > With the calcium I give him Mag citrate. He also has an issue with teeth grinding at night and a few of you mentioned magnesium serate (sp??) but I can't seem to find that...the HFS is telling me that is just a filler that is put in capsules and not really a supplement. > > What I've noticed, pretty much with ALL supplements, including probiotics, is he does really well with these things for a few weeks and then becomes very irritable and angry and has major meltdowns and just has that other side to him that is very hard to tolerate. Guest guest
Hi To help decrease Copper, reducing sources along with giving Zinc, it might be worth giving bile increasing supps such as Milk Thistle, taurine and/or glycine along with molybdenum which might help as suggested in the link below. http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm Cheers Kenny > > > > I'm wondering about the following... > > > > *Anyone's child have any issues with calcium supplement?
