website for my father

My father tends to think all alternative medicine is nothing but a money

racket. His big question for me is...do you know of any reliable recovery

stories? I would like to give him a website to look at. I have the best chance

of

getting him to read the materials if I just give him one website. Therefore,

if you were me...what one website would you recommend with recovery stories

being very important. I feel I need to get my parents on board as I may need

their financial help with all of this. Thank you so much.

Yes. Many.

Ask your father why alternative MD " s aren't surgeons if they want to loot? They

can make

thousands of dollars an hour cutting unnecessarily, maybe a couple of hundred if

they

charge very high fees doing unnecessary consultations. And the patients in the

consultations are conscious and can ask awkward questions if it is just looting.

Personally I'd suggest just ignoring him and if he wants the pleasure of your

and your

child's company he can be nice about it all. However if you want to do

something I'd

suggest getting the ARI DVD showing a bunch of recovered kids.

Here is my site page

http://www.danasview.net/recover.htm

If you are chelating, the most persuasive is Generation Rescue, linked

near the bottom of my page.

Kristi,

I tend to agree with the 'don't bother' suggestion. With someone who

takes such a negative stance on alternative medicine, simply offering

websites isn't going to change his/her mind and will only aggravate

you and alienate your father/daughter relationship.

That has just been my experience. Honestly, I've come to embrace

my 'black sheep' status. I just add names to my 'I told you so' list

for use in the (near) future.

I'm sorry he isn't more supportive. Not all people can think for

themselves when it comes to medicine.

As far as gaining their trust for future financial support. I would

send them to ARI's website. Dr. Rimland was such a good man.

Regardless of how you feel about DAN!, the website is well organized

and the docs DO come with solid credentials.

http://www.autism.com/

Generation Rescue is good, too. It also contains a link to the ARI

recovery video.

http://www.generationrescue.org/index.html

As far as being a money racket. The doc I saw for the first time

yesterday spent 3.5 hours with me and my son and only charged me

$400. Labs included. Dr. Usman charges more than that for an hour.

Since insurance pays for little to none of our treatment (they'll pay

for the physical blood draw but not the tests to the tune of $20),

you as a patient get to SEE the charges and not just your insurance

claim that comes through saying you owe the $30 deductible or

whatever. Medicine on ALL levels is expensive and the overhead for a

clinic is insane. I'd love to tell you what my anesthesiologist

husband charges per unit (15 minutes, I think), but I'm embarassed.

He doesn't always collect it, but they charge it!

Does he like McCarthy? She has a recovered child and a book to

boot.

Here is my site, altho I am an " unknown " , so I don't think I would be

very credible to your father

http://www.danasview.net/recover.htm

At the bottom, there is Generation Rescue and Dr. Neubrander's site,

both of which are very persuasive and even have videos.

Or, just recover your own child, and he will see the difference. That

worked for my family.

Honestly, I don't know how your father can look at medicine and not think it

isn't for the financial gain of the Doctors, Pharmaceuticals and government when

most all medicines are not curing the disease but are just treating the symptoms

and most often have side effects that lead to other problems. I think sometimes

with the natural approaches we are doing the same thing as far as treating the

symptoms but some of the natural stuff does actually treat the core of the

problems and the natural products are healing our bodies instead of causing

other problems with the side-effects. That is why natural products are not

popular with the medical community because it does not make them any money. It

helps the person get better and that is not what they are about. Off my soap box

now. Maybe you could mention this to him and see what he thinks about the other

side of the coin so to speak.

Kristi,

Here are some links I have saved over the last two years. I haven't

been back to visit some of them in months so I'm not sure the link is

working. Some are general stories, others go into much better detail.

Kudos to you for educating your family. I wish you the best!
