I understand your ped being useless...but..often you need a referral they should

be able to give you a " team " of doctors to refer you too.

I'm in Wisconsin, but no help. But what we went through was early intervention

and my son did that. Lots of testing and a great experience here in Wisconsin,

my area anyway. We also in La Crosse did a testing, twice. We had BCBS and

they covered it 100%, 2 years ago and 6 years ago. It was a team of doctors,

took a couple days, lots of appointments. Ot, speech, audiologist,

developmental pediatrician, physiologist of some kind, lots of forms I filled

out, lots of talking to me, it was draining. But it helped me see things too

that I wouldn't pick up. Like my son couldn't process two things, like go get

your shoes. He's hear get and stuff. When he was 3 3/4, they would only

diagnoses cognitive and speech delayed. Social, friendly but off. In second

grade they diagnosed just a label as PPD-NOS.

They school district can also do testing. We qualified as autistic by the

testing, he had enough issues that he got services.

I hope that helps some. Good luck and keep up the great work. I'd also look

into Feingold diet too.

What kind of doctor should we see.

My wife and I have been struggling with our 5 year old... We first noticed his

aggression problems when he was around 1 after eating an apple. As the years

have progressed we have found more and more things that cause his behavior to

change. Orange juice causes him to have downright tourettes type symptoms, it's

scary. Sodium Benzoate and Yellow #5 turn him into a monster for a day or two

depending on his total intake.

We have learned through our own trial and error what he can eat.

Our child has not been diagnosed by anyone but my wife and I. We have done

lots of research and feel we are on the right track. Our pediatrician is

useless.

We think our child either has a yeast problem, Phenol sensitivity, or possibly

leaky gut. His symptoms could point to any of the three or combination of.

As far as we know he is not Autistic but my wife are not against the fact that

maybe he could be somewhere on the spectrum.

We need a specialist in Houston Texas that preferably takes Humana medical

insurance. Of the three DAN doctors we have called none of them will file on our

insurance for us. Why is that?

What kind of doctor do you recommend? Nutritionist? Allergist? Other?

Were in Houston and would love for any recommendations!

See if your doctor can refer you to a Developmental Pediatrician for an

evaluation. Another good one is an Occupational Therapist if he still has

difficulties outside the dietary issues.

In Virginia we didn't have the team-type situation that was mentioned by the

other poster -- it would have been nice and that's definitely a better approach.

I don't know what Texas has available for early intervention, but our

Developmental Pediatrician was able to diagnose our daughter (ADHD & PDD-NOS)

with the big long questionnaire (It's called the Vanderbilt 2, I believe) and

refer us to another whole host of people & resources. You may need to press

some on the yeast testing ( & others if needed) - our DP didn't really buy into

the dietary stuff, but the doors her diagnosis opened for us were invaluable.
