Guest guest
Hi, I joined the group about two weeks ago, I have a almost 4 year who has Autism and SPD. I would like to start Enzymes on him. My son can not take any supplements or vitamins of any kinds. When I try to give him these he becomes extremely violent, more defiant and just all around worse. with this i am very nervous to start the Enzymes. I have read both books by Defelice. I am trying to figure out if it would be better to start with " the Great low-N-Slow Method " or just start with very small doses of a higher Protease enzymes. Has any one else experienced not being able to give their child supplements and had successes with enzymes? if so could you share how you did it. I tried to post last week and the post never came thru, it that post shows up sorry for the duplication and it can be ignored. Thank you, Emma
Guest guest
I think I would try with enzymes first. Houston makes a chewable or there are tips on opening up a capsule and hiding in yummy treats. Are you doing any diet? Feingold, GFCF? Enzymes really helped my guy first. Once I saw the difference, I got fully on board with more, adding a probiotic, a yeast protocol and Brainchild Nutritionals. BTW, call and get samples. Guest guest
Hi Emma, If you notice that he is very sensitive to many supplements I think the " low and slow " method would be best. In her book " Enzymes: Go With You Gut " recommends starting off with a low protease digestive enzyme. She mentions Enzymedica's Lacto. Enzymedica has just come out with a new digestive product called DigestBasic. It also is very low in Protease but has higher amounts of the other needed enzymes when compared to Lacto. I would start off with that one and then work your way up to DigestGold & GlutenEase which is much higher in proteases. Low amounts of a high protease enzyme is ok to take with meals but it usually doesn't contain the other enzymes to Digest the rest of the foods. For instance Virastop is a very high protease product but doesn't contain Lipase for fat digestion. Unless you are thinking of a product more like DigestGold. That way you are dealing with one product the entire time and working your way up from 1/4 capsule to one full capsule. Please feel free to ask me any other questions or if you need me to clarify anything.
