It should only last a few weeks. McCarthy writes about it with her son in her book Louder Than Words. Hang in there! On Jan 4, 2008 9:21 AM, samadamfamily <

Just to share my experience- my daughter and I started really slow w/

the biokult and she was the one w/ the difficulties/adjustments.

Until we both hit 6 capsules a day. She seems fine. I on the other

hand have been walking around w/ a sore stomach and am so bloated

that I look pregnant and for the first few days of the 6 caps per

day, I was also feeling a bit like I had the flu. I e-mailed Laurie

and she suggested that I cut back to 4 a day for 2 weeks and then

increase to 5 a day for a week and then move up to 6. So today, I'm

back to 4 a day and the bloating seems to be subsiding a bit.

So I guess what I learned is that I need to be careful not to go too

fast - the effects of that are REALLY unpleasant.

Sam,

You could cut the dose and make the transition slower.

McCarthy's son did the GAPS diet?? Why didn't she talk about THAT in all

of her

interviews?

I am going through a big die off " hangover " myself and figured out that drinking

a little aloe

juice or flax (hopefully it is GAPS friendly) and drinking lots of water helped

move things out

a little faster and helped my headaches and nausea. Having more then 1 bowel

movement

(but not diarrhea) per day really helps. When I do not have more my liver swells

up from all of

the toxicity not getting out.

No she didn't do GAPS! She did GFCF and she used ThreeLac. She talked about the ThreeLac die-off her son had in the book. She talked about candida and digestion a lot in her interviews. She said that the two biggest leaps in development her son had were due to (1) changing the diet and (2) probiotics. About 2 weeks after she started him on the ThreeLac, he laughed at a joke for the first time ever.

never mind about the baby reacting to the bio kult, he had a tooth come through

today and

started sleeping good again so that was probably what was bothering him. does

anyone

know what to do for mild constipation? me and my son normally have one movement

a day

but we haven''t gone in a day or so and i don't know what to do to help things

along.

thanks even though its a little gross : )

Hi Sam,

Do you know if the new flooring has some kind of toxic sealant on it

or something that could be acting as an irritant/allergen? Just a

thought.... So many things in our environment are toxic nowadays and

can cause allergies, especially paints, sealants, etc. Or was there a

lot of dust or mold that got spread around your house with the removal

of the carpet? Perhaps an air purifier would help?

Maybe your son needs a different kind of probiotic? Our ND had me

give my son some Bifidus powder by Biogenesis when he was a baby, and

still now. He said that young children and babies need the

bifidus-type bacteria, as that is made in the small intestine (?)

where most of the energy is focused at this time. I'm not sure if

I've got this right, but this is basically what I remember....
