Guest guest
Hi Sandy, We bought a sack of Epsom Salt (25 Kg) from a website called Just a soap for £36.77 (including VAT and delivery charges). Not sure about the US. It is manufactured by a company called Blythe and has the BP grading. It stands for British Pharmacopoeia and means that the epsom salt is produced to the pharmaceutically accepted grade for internal use as laid out by the British Pharmacopoeia. I think the US uses the FCC grading. Cheers, Adam http://www.imaan.biz 2009/10/17 sandydiego06 <sandyjramirez@...> > > > > What Epsom Salt do you all use for bathing your children and how much do you use each time. I've heard some people say the brand doesn't matter, but I've also heard some brands of epsom salt have toxins in them that could do more harm than good. Is there a safe brand and if so where is the safest place to purchase it. I've heard buying the salt in bulk saves quite a bit of money. > Thanks for your help! > Sandy > >
Guest guest
I use whichever i can find at Walmart. That's true, the bigger the bag the cheaper it can be. I can't really live without it, my 2 year old is more easygoing with the baths. I use 1 cup or 3/4 cups in the baththub every other day. Some people dissolve the salts in a little bit of water and mix it with their favorite body lotion but in my case the baths have proven to be better, maybe it's the warm water that relaxes my son. Guest guest
I use about 1 cup of salts in the bath for both of my kids (meaning they both get in the same bath). The issue with brand comes down to an issue of possible contamination- epsom salts are widely used in agricultural and industrial purposes, and the low-quality used for this can be contaminated with mercury and other toxins. I personally don't trust " generic " or cheap brands to not just be packaging the cheap, contaminated stuff into bags for the drug store. Brands is the only brand that I know of that is actually tested for quality in a lab so it's the only brand I use. It's a judgment call how you want to handle this, but NEVER use epsom salt that was bought in bulk at a feed and farm supply store. Feed stores sell huge bags of epsom salt, baking soda, and some other things like that, and sometimes people post that they got this GREAT deal- but it is NOT the right grade for human use! -Sierra > > What Epsom Salt do you all use for bathing your children and how much do you use each time. Guest guest
Make sure you get the USP. US pharmaceutical grade, I buy at Wal-Mart near the bandaids and stuff. It is cheap and easy to use. I use 1 cup of Epsom Salt and 1/2 cup baking soda, soak for 20 minutes. > > > From: sandydiego06 <sandyjramirez@...> > Subject: Epsom Salt for bathing > > Date: Saturday, October 17, 2009, 10:18 AM > > > > > > > What Epsom Salt do you all use for bathing your children and how much do you use each time.
