Guest guest
We have a 5 yr. old son with Asperger's and have been doing biomed for about 2 1/2 years. GF/CF/SF diet, etc. We've had a real time in the past few months with him just completely snapping into fits of rage and aggression in which he seems completely unable to make a rationale decision or choice that would enable him to calm down or get out of trouble. It happens a few times a week. It almost seems to build where he is more and more on edge for a couple days and then just explodes over some minor incidence when he's gotten into the least bit of trouble or been corrected or not gotten his way, etc. Yesterday it happened for the first time at school, starting with a sharing problem with his twin brother and it was pretty bad. The teachers had not really believed us, what we were seeing at home because he had always been so good at school. It started with an incident with his brother but lasted about 45 minutes. Any thoughts? Over the last six months we had loosened up on the diet a tiny bit, maybe once a week having chic-filet nuggets with enzymes and didn't really seem to see anything, at least poop-wise. Some soy lecithin maybe and he's been getting a lot of junk (suckers with artificials, etc.) at school. Could this be enough? It almost seems like he's just not at all himself when he's in one of these modes, like he literally would not remember it after. Even the teacher said she had not seen anything like it and that it had to be biological. He did also report that he had a terrible headache at school because of the tornado drill. I'm not surprised that bothered him, I knew it would, but could it trigger this kind of snapping 30 minutes later? What is going on in the brain when that happens? We see a new DAN doctor Monday and I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on what we could ask about.
