Guest guest
I'm not familiar with Wii Speak. What does it do? How would this help an A.S. child? Thank you for the info! kk > > My 12 yo has a wii speak and used it only once. She said they couldn't > really hear each other talk-I am thinking it was because of background > noises. Guest guest
Wii speak is a speaker you plug into the main wii unit. The speaker allows the kids to speak to each other while playing a wii game, provided it is the kind of game that allows multi player internet play. Beware that just because a wii game shows the “internet” logo does not mean the game can be played over the internet, it may only mean that you can get updates or post scores or others things over the internet. My daughter used hers for animal crossing and as I said the quality of audio was not clear enough to make it worth it for her—background noise overtook the main voices. So it was a bust for us. You can google if you want to find out more. Now if the voice quality was adequate, it may help the asperger child by encouraging them to speak to other children in a somewhat structured game play setting. Guest guest
we found there is a " wii speak channel " , that doesnt have to do with any games. its more like instant messenger with voices instead. it actually uses the " mii " that your child creates of themselves and it makes it look like the two cartoon like characters are speaking to each other.. my daughter seems to respond to others if " she doesnt have to be herself " (shes always trying to make believe she is someone other than herself). thats why i asked if anyone else had it and udes it. > > Wii speak is a speaker you plug into the main wii unit. Guest guest
Might be worth a try then. I think the equipment cost around $30. Regards, melody

Guest guest
I don't have any experience with this game but I have heard of people who use the Wii game Animal Crossing for this very reason. We have a Wii but use XBox Live to help our son with social development. He can play games with other kids he knows but he is here and they are at their house. They talk over headphones, leave eachother messages to make plans to meet, etc. It has been a good experience for us so far. Natasha
