My son age 9 has Primary Immune Deficency...it is where his immune system does

not make the antibodies necessary to fight off infection. He is on weekly

Vivaglobin Subq. He has been sick since the day he was born but was not

diagnosed until he was almost 2.

In addition to Asperger's my son also has symbrachydactyly, which is a

supposedly non-genetic anomaly which causes a hand to stop developing early on

in gestation. One of his hands is typical, and the other has a small palm, a

tiny thumb (which we only found out last week that he can move independently to

grasp things, so that was exciting), and four tiny dots where the fingers would

have been. I am VERY interested to see what others have to say on this topic,

because it does seem so unlikely to have been born with both a very rare

physical anomaly and a somewhat rare neurological condition like Asperger's.

My son was born with a condition called an omphalocele. He was born with some of

his intestines on the outside of his body. He also had a hole in his heart that

was repaired at 2 1/2 years and with glotic and subglotic stenosis-- his throat

was the size of a straw and his vocal chords were fused together. He had to

have his throat reconstructed when he was 10 months old.

This is probably outside the scope of what you're looking for, but my son has asthma and food allergies, e.g. peanuts, etc. From: faithalicious <mom2iris2002@...>Subject: ( ) just curious,,,, Date: Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 8:41 PM
