I didn't respond b/c D's IEP is woefully inadequate in this area. I was patiently awaiting the responses to your post.

OK, I'll try this again since I didn't get any responses last time. I'm wondering if anybody would like to share the exact wording of their IEP goals to do with organization/ planning. I'm especially interested in what present levels of performance (PLOP) you are using to support them and how the methodology, tracking and reporting methods are spelled out. Supporting accommodations might be useful too. This is for my 14yo in 9th grade, by the way.I'll be happy to share mine too, if anyone wants. They are better than they were, but still lacking. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, . :) Is this the case with everybody? If so, I'll post what we

end up with. I should be having yet another meeting next week, although I don't

know if it is going to settle everything. I'm having to work my way up the

chain of command on this one.

Our IEP was last used 2 years ago and it was very "basic". I didn't push too much...I was just done.

The last 2 years were virtual school and now he's in a little parochial.....

So, that's our "excuse"...he he.

The lack of response is kind of interesting. I guess this may be a big problem

in the field. Maybe that is why people at the school are trying to avoid all my

questions, i.e., they really don't have any answers.

I'm prob not going to be much of help to you. I myself is just starting this whole IEP thing as well. I'm just in the beginning stages of it. I just sent a formal letter to the school requesting an IEP set up for my 17yo son just recently dx w/ AS. since their resource person, speech and psch people are just in campus 2x/wk. there's really not much going on yet. But as i was reading your mail- i'm just amazed w/ what's involved. what is PLOP?? If it would be possible that you can share w/ me what you have come up so far?? My son has very mild AS, he is pretty strong acad, but can use some help w/ org/planning as well. His main issue is more of the social skills aspect of it. Hopefully, somebody out there w/ more exp w/ IEP format/wordings etc can help u out. But i would like to get some info myself- if you

could kindly share what u have so far. Thanx in advance.

This is the one I started off from, the letters/ documents at the bottom too.

But so far it has been redundant as the school says he doesn't need one, so I don't know how it well it works, hope this is of help.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, Vicky. I will definitely be sharing, but it

probably won't be until sometime this weekend. I have deadlines at work this

week, so I can only do so much. I'm planning on talking to some people at the

school next week, so I'll have to come up with something by then. :) So far, I

have a couple of pertinent website blurbs and a book our neuropsych gave us, but

I haven't fleshed everything out yet. My research and networking is making it

clear that this is a really neglected area. My son's reasons for qualifying for

special ed were processing speed and executive dysfunction--and I'm pretty sure

the school has no meaningful interventions for the executive dysfunction. They

are skirting all my questions. All the things I see them doing are having my

son do things where he is just going through the motions, not really doing

anything. And they are trying to get away with not having any objective

measurement, just the teacher saying " yeah, he is doing it " . Anyway, so I'm at

the place where I'm going to have to ask for a meeting with the Autism team and

people from the main SPED office to put together something more meaningful. But

I'll have to have something meaningful together myself to discuss or they will

just play stupid and blow it off. Talk to you later.
