Guest guest
Hi! You sound very much like my husband of 18 years! Our middle son has very mild Asperger's, and since learning more about it, I am fairly certain my husband also falls somewhere on the spectrum. Do you see the traits in any of your children? Thanks for posting and you are more than welcome here! Peggy In a message dated 2/14/2011 4:27:10 P.M. Guest guest
My dad got diagnosed at 61! He's had some small issues with jobs, but its mostly because he doesn't follow social norms. My dad and my Aspie son get along really well - until one of them hits rage. From: S <harrydubois@...> Sent: Mon, February 14, 2011 2:51:21 PMSubject: ( ) I'm not sure I am in the right forum However I am 50 years old and I was just recently diagnosed by a psychiatrist as having a "classic case" of Aspergers. Guest guest
Although we are raising children diagnosed with Asperger's, we are not experts and cannot make a diagnosis. The only advice I can give is please get a second opinion, preferably from someone who specializes in adults on the spectrum. Also, in my opinion, it is not the label that is so important, but the symptoms, if any, that need to be treated. Good luck! > > However I am 50 years old and I was just recently diagnosed by a psychiatrist as having a " classic case " of Aspergers. > > I'm very surprised. > > I was painfully shy as a child and I was bullied in school. Guest guest
Dear : Are you on a regular forum other than this. Do email on this theme. I saw the "Adam" movie. The thing that stood out for me was the lack of inhibition and ablity to speek. When He went to a party with his new girlfriend and there was a new baby there. He didnot want to see the baby pictures. NT's are socialized to think babies are great and to be enthustic about things that they would rather not talk about. I guess it is part of the Social Chat thing. Thanks, T.
