Diarrhea sounds like die off but the runny nose and rash sound like a food sensitivity to me and this would make sense with the increased OCD and hyperactivity. Are you feeding him anything else that is different? On Jan 26, 2011, at 8:26 AM, hubinger wrote:

Hi everyone

I started my 4-year old son on young coconut kefir about 10 days ago to try and heal his gut/get rid of the candida. He has since had (in this order) a very runny nose, cough, rash on his face, increased hyperactivity and OCD. He had a very foul-smelling bowel movement the second day followed by 4 days of constipation followed by 5 days of foul-smelling diarrhea(still continuing now). I am mostly concerned that the diarrhea has lasted so long (and shows no signs of ending). Has anyone else had this experience with die-off?

Thanks very much!

Hi

No we haven't changed his diet at all. He is on a gfcf diet with other

restrictions because of food sensitivities so we are very careful with what he

eats. His hyperactivity and OCD are two reasons we are trying to address his

candida, and they both seem to have gotten worse on the kefir.

Has he had coconut before? Coconut is a fairly common food sensitivity. Have the runny nose and rash gone away? Does he tolerate other fermented foods well (kombucha, sauerkraut)? Fermented foods are full of wild yeasts and many people can't tolerate them. On Jan 26, 2011, at 1:59 PM, hubinger wrote:

If your son has leaky gut, then the uncontrolled yeasts in kefir may be too much for him. I am too sensitive to tolerate uncontrolled yeasts. A bit of yeast in bread I can handle, but more gut healing is in order for me. The casein in kefir is a double whammy for me as well.Joan
