Guest guest
I looked into Connections a few years ago when my daughter did online school for 1/2 of kindergarten. We ended up doing MN Virtual Academy. I think I've heard that MNVA pushes kids even more than Connections. I don't really like the push, push, push. But, I do like the home atmosphere and the idea that you work when you work and don't have " homework " (even though it's literally all homework). So, Connections may be the way to go. I will look into it some more. I have another issue with this: My other son has begged to do homeschool at times. We don't think it's the best fit for him, though. He is 10 and has Bipolar. He thrives on social interaction and even though he doesn't have any friends at school, he likes the classroom social atmosphere and has a good relationship with his teacher. So, there may be some jealousy, as there always is, if we decide to do online school for B (12) for 7th grade this coming year. Jealousy for my son with BP can mean aggression and property destruction. Guest guest
Leah, Do you live in the Twin Cities? Another option is an online charter that has transitioned into face-2-face AND online. 3 days a week in school and 2 days online. They also have a 100% online. www.cybervillageacademy.org I can't speak to quality, but it is a " different " sort of approach. Barbara S. > > My other son has begged to do homeschool at times. Guest guest
Not all online schools are the same. Some may be " live " with direct teaching in real time. Others are simply assignments being e-mailed back and forth.
