I just have a curious question here: Are your sons circumcised or not? I am curious to see if the uncircumcised boys are having the problems or not. My son is uncircumcised, and wears cotton boxes, no tags and a covered waist band with material too. The elastic drives him nuts. We had a horrible time with this with my son. I think we had problems with it until he was about 10---sorry! We even had complaints from his teacher at school because of it being unsanitary. We talked to him LOTS and he said he didn't like the way his penis was laying and had to fix it. We tried EVERYTHING! It seemed to be a sensory type issue, he just got all worked up about how it felt and actually got upset when it didn't feel right. We found that for him it "felt better" with briefs and sweat type pants and silky type shorts. I think the issue is one all males have, but being an aspie he is more sensitive to it and gets all worked up over it.

My son is not an aspie but has sensory issues. He is uncircumcised

and could care less how it lays lol. He wears briefs, boxer briefs, or

boxers without issue. Now waistband and pant leg are a whole other

issue. He likes everything tight so he rolls his waistband till he

has a wedgie lol, he swears his pants will fall down otherwise. And

if they still fall at the ankle where they should he rolls the bottoms

up too. I really wish I could break this as he looks like his pants

are too small, he's urkle, he's waiting for a flood, or his underwear

(which he has also been known to roll the waistband of) stick out the

back. It takes him several minutes to unroll everything just to use

the bathroom (and he already waits till the last minute). If I argue

I can convince him to only roll his waist once, though that usualluy

results in the longer leg and thus it getting rolled up.

He also has the shoe issue. He wasn't wearing socks so I got him

keens but now he is wearing socks but I swear he pulls the elastic so

tight I'm surprised he has any circulation in his feet.

My hfa otoh won't wear socks or underwear at all. Though she suddenly

likes toe socks.

Hi Deborah,That's a very interesting question. My son is uncircumcised. About a year ago the doctor noticed blood in his urine and said he wasn't keeping that area clean enough. I asked my husband to help my son shower, but they always ended up in a shouting match, so my husband explained to me how my son needs to pull back his foreskin and rinse that area (sorry, I'm getting graphic again). I must admit I've been a bit lax recently about reminding my son to do that, so maybe he has a little irritation from that.My son has never complained about his underwear, tags, etc., although I hear clothing complaints are common with autistic kids. I have definitely had problems with this for my son (diagnosed AS/ADHD, age 8). I have also gone through every type of underwear imaginable. He seems to do best with lose cotton boxer briefs (without tags). After a great deal of reminder and prompting, he has stopped it at school (thank heavens!), but still does it at home, although he touches himself through his clothing. For him it doesn't seem to be as much of a stimulation thing, but rather a habit. He always needs to keep his hands busy.
