Guest guest
Ron, do you have any groups out there called YAP (youth advocate program)? They are working with our schools. Also, I am a Paraprofessional in a school...I work one-on-one with a student. I go to training classes and programs. I am constrantly reading about working with children with AS. I am a parent also. I would speak with the Superintendent of Special Education. They may want to train the teacher on a Act 80 Day or teacher in-service day. I think this would be the best route to go. The Superintendent would have the knowledge of services and agencies. And, the school may have a Behavior Specialist already on board....I know our school does. This person would work with the teachers to set up a plan for your child. Just be careful how you approach the subject...some teachers may already have the knowledge. Be careful with your wording....you don't want to make the teachers feel on edge or that they are not competent. It would backfire on you. jan "In the Midst of Difficulty lies Opportunity" Albert Einstein Success is not measured by one's position but by the obstacles one has overcome to obtain that position From: Roni Ostrander <darkangl29@...> Sent: Mon, January 17, 2011 12:43:23 AMSubject: ( ) Teacher trainer to come in. Guest guest
Are you in the USA? I would search for an ABA therapy center. You can sometimes contact a local autism group to ask them how to find someone. You can also check out local conferences. Get on a local autism listserv and you can often find out who is coming to your area to speak and give the information to your child's teachers and therapists. Over at "www.wrightslaw.com" you can click on --> http://www.yellowpagesforkids.com/ and they have tons of business and therapists listed for each state.
