HI Kristal, I too have a recently diagnosed dd who is almost 11 (next week) and I am thinking about homeschooling instead of middle school this next year. We have a very strong homeschool group here in our community and it will offer plenty of social opportunities.

As far as the therapist,,,I would consider finding someone else as this therapist should not be underminding you. You are your childs only advocate and he depends on you. Hope you find the support you need here.

My name in Kristal, and my son was just today diagnosed with Aspergers at 10 years old. He is currently homeschooled, because the public school system just didn't work for us. I have my Masters in Education and was teaching when we decided to homeschool. Now the psychologist is saying that he needs school for social skills and I'm going to try to find an autistic school here near us, as the public school system here does not offer services besides consulation.Looking forward to getting to knowing everyone.I cried today when I read the report because the psyc was so harsh with her wording. She described me as overlaborative and magnifying pathology because I was pessimistic and feels helpless and unable to deal with my son's problems. I referred him for the testing, because I've known since he was 2.5 something was wrong. I am relieved to have the diagnosis, although my spirit was crushed at the words she used to describe me, as it makes me just feel horrible (again for the millionth time in socieity)Hugs,Kristal

Thank you Lynne,

I agree--and after re-reading the report I noticed lots of errors, she kept referring to my son as a she, and then stating opinions about his biological father, which we have never discussed, so the entire thing is odd. I am thinking she may be confusing with us with another of her cases.

tomorrow I'll see her again, to ask about the odd information in the report, and then I'm getting another opinion from someone who may be a little better organized.

She keeps saying with your son in public schoo, and I have to keep correcting her, saying he is homeschooling--just lots of errors in her report and conversation with us. Even my husband said something is wrong.

I'll keep you posted after the meeting tomorrow.

If there are errors in a pyschological (totally incorrect information--can it be removed?) is that put in their permanent recrd?

she even has that we were referred by the Military--which we have not ever went to a military doctor. I contacted her myself. It's just very scary with all the errors.
