Guest guest
i bought a 25 pound "exercise vest" from walmart for my 15 year old. Comes with cool exercise pattern on it. Much cheaper than typical weighted vests. Hopefully it will go over well ( ) Weighted Products For 9 Year Old??? I'm sure this has been asked before, so I apologize if this is a repeat....What things does the weighted vest/blankets help with? Is a 9 year old to old for this type of thing? I worry about him standing out more than he already does. What are your opinions? He has been strugggling to hold still and stay quiet in class. We tried a "wiggle seat" 2 years ago but he wouldn't stop playing with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Guest guest
Hello, It seems as though your son is looking for some sensory input. He is engaging in a sensory seeking behavior. Weighed items provide a sense of comfort to a person, child or otherwise. For example, if you have a cat that likes to lay in your lap, you come to find that you like it too. It partly has to do with the weight of the cat on your lap. Every since I started using a weighted lap pad for dd, she has stopped her fidgeting. Now I am about to make her a weighted blanket to help her keep still while she sleeps. She is a terrible mover. So much so that she gets into positions that make her limbs knumb or ends up uncovered when her room has to be chilled due to her needed a lower temp. to sleep in. I really think that the weight will give her the feeling of being back in the womb where she felt safe and soothed. I do think that you can have a weighted item made with different fabric. You just have to find a person/company that will custom make one for you with a fabric that your son likes. There are a few out there that you can google.
