Guest guest
It's an excellent show. My gut is that they'll be very responsible about how they portray it.Sent via BlackBerry by AT&TFrom: "UMgirl" <chevinsea@...>Sender: Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2011 21:41:38 -0000< >Reply Subject: ( ) TV episode of Parenthood to feature Aspergers The show Parenthood, this Tuesday night, will be showing an episode where a child is told he has Aspergers. Guest guest
You can watch it yourself first and then decide later on if you want your child to see it. > > The show Parenthood, this Tuesday night, will be showing an episode where a child is told he has Aspergers. Guest guest
I have not watched the show. If you are concerned about your child watching it, I would suggest recording it, watch it, and then determine if you feel it is appropriate for them to watch. On a personal note, my son was not diagnosed until he was 16 1/2. Once he received the dx, watching something where someone is on the spectrum helped him to better understand his quirks are because of a problem, not because he is weird. Currently on the Amazing Race is a young man with Asperger's. Debbi in SO CA > > The show Parenthood, this Tuesday night, will be showing an episode where a child is told he has Aspergers. Guest guest
From the very first episode of this show, my husband & I have felt that the producers have a hidden camera in our home, b/c the week's topic is usually something we are experiencing with our 7-yr-old son. Last week, we were a bit relieved that the next show will feature Max's parents telling him about his dx, so that we could ise the information " in the future. " . Well, as chance would have it, on Friday night, when we were coming back from having dinner and allowing the boys to play in the Chick-Fil-A indoor playground, my son asked me, " Mama, how come I'm so different from all the other kids? " I asked him what he meant, and he gave some examples of how he gets angry, can't stop thinking about things, and how he's so good at computer games. I told him he was different-- that we all are -- and that what makes him different also makes him unique. That seemed to work, and he smiled, but we're seriously considering ahring some more concrete information with him and have been readin and researching all weekend. We are definitely looking forward to tomorrow's episode! Gladys > > > > The show Parenthood, this Tuesday night, will be showing an episode where a child is told he has Aspergers. Guest guest
The episodes are posted on the website like the day after, if you don't have a recorder. > > You can watch it yourself first and then decide later on if you want your child to see it. >
