Theresa,

Congrats!!! for your daughter!!!!!

I know it must be hard and a big worry for you as to how she will do, but try to enjoy thistime.

I have a question for you, if you don't mind. Did she disclose that she has AS even though she isn't on meds?

I was wondering if her having a dx may help her if something did happen to happen, ya know?

My daughter got signed up this week for the Air force.

I feel such pride yet disappointment.

While she was at MEPS taking her oath to enlist, we found out she had lost her job weeks ago. And pretended to go to work anyways,

not telling us.

While she is on delayed enlistment meaning she will wait to go to boot camp , we expect she may go early summer.

When she came home we asked her about her job, etc. She had no thoughts on what she planned to do until she leaves for b/camp.

She had no choice about loosing her job even thou about 2 months ago they brought her in and gave her warning about her attendance, etc.

I tried to explain that she did have a choice in loosing her job by her attendance and job performance. Thus she does not get.

I do worry how this will play out in the service as I know they will not except that behavior. They will not except she does not want to go to school, etc.

Was I shocked she lost a job no , I kind of expected a teen to loose their first job. I was shocked at the pretending and also not owning up to

her part of why she lost the job.

I wonder how her brain will function with Aspergers in the service. But as I said before I am proud she has done what she has wanted for 4 years.

No she did not disclose that as she was advised not too.

With her it is kind of hard to know she has Aspergers unless you know her, perhaps people she her as a geek.

She did attend a boot camp school to finish high school put on by the National Guard which gave us all in-sight as

to if she could handle things. She wanted to know how she would react to someone up in her face screaming , etc.

And she was able to function very well, finished 4th in her class.

Now my youngest son 16 will not be able to handle something like that as his Aspergers is different and of course needs meds,.
