Had to laugh when I read your son reads "repair manuals"...my dd will read anything and everything. As of late she is reading the Bible. How many people have actually done that?? I wonder how much she is understanding,,,she doesn't let on even when questioned.

Wow you go girl! She is picking up a book that is hard to read and has so much symbolism and parables--wow!

Keep us on touch when she finishes--I think that is amazing!

My 13yo is hyperlexic, or was. I'm not sure if it applies later in life. is a very good reader. He read, literally, by his second birthday. He knew the alphabet upper and lower case by 18 months. He was fascinated by letters and numbers and would dart away from me to touch signs or license plates. Walking anywhere with him was terrifying. He almost ran in traffic at an extremely busy airport because he wanted to touch a sign and was in total meltdown mode over it. He still loves to read but he got stuck on larger print kid books around 4th grade because of vision problems. Last year had vision therapy and he suddenly caught up and was able to read the whole Percy series of books in no time. The print is very small and there are many of them crammed on one page. Glasses and vision therapy together are what made the biggest difference.> > From: Roxanna <MadIdeas@...>> Subject: Re: ( ) Hyperlexia> > Date: Saturday, May 29, 2010, 8:02 PM> > > > > > > > Â >

LOL! This reminds me of a camping trip we took that turned into a mini-monsoon. Grandma was trying to assuage 's fears. She said, "There's no need to be afraid, . Who made the rain?" And his response, "God did. But He also told us to obey."I also thought it was kind of funny around Easter. He turned into a mini-evangelist with the same line for everyone when he met them in stores or at school. "I've got good news. I've got bad news. And I've got GREAT news..." LOL, thank goodness we live in the South or he might have ended up in trouble. From: <ladle24@...> Sent: Wed, June 2, 2010 10:06:47 AMSubject: [sPAM] Re: ( ) Hyperlexia

My 6 yo reads the Bible too. Sometimes his literal understanding provides some very funny interpretations for us! Other times he will come out with something like "Leviticus 19: says 'And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,' Isn't that funny!"
