Simply brilliant and fascinating. Anyone can grasp and apply the information. It has made an immediate impact in my life especially financially so I would recommend it as a possible prosperity resource. Regena
Guest guest
Just had a parent-teacher conference again with the teacher for . tested out fine for her grade level. However, she is not doing well on her classwork. Not sure what is causing the gap. She scored a 34 on her DAAR testing, which is the middle score for 3rd grade. So she totally passed the testing and a little bit more. But her classwork has been C and D levels of work. 's IEP is coming up possibly next week. It will also have a child study with it. The teacher is going to recommend that be tested. So, FINALLY I am getting somewhere. However, they are going to recommend a tutor for her until the testing and accomodations are final, which could be at least March before they are in place. (at the soonest.) Tom lost his job last Dec. and finally found one in July for half the salary he was making. So we really can't afford to pay a tutor all that time. What do parents do that are in that situation and can't afford to pay for a tutor due to circumstances beyond their control. (Like unemployment, etc.) HELP!!! -Melinda
Guest guest
What about asking some of the tutors at the school where goes, maybe they would volunteer their time? I know that tutors do that at our elementary school. Or, what about asking your health department about ways they could help you pay for it? > > Just had a parent-teacher conference again with the teacher for . tested out fine for her grade level. Guest guest
If the IEP recommends the tutor they should be providing those services. Pam
Guest guest
Pam, That's what I thought, but the teacher wants her to have help while we await the testing. However, she already has an IEP for speech. Can that be put in her current IEP? Or do we have to wait until she has another eligibility meeting to determine placement and services? She is already having a resource for math. It's a "club", but not a resource teacher. I don't think she needs an aide, but the teacher said the current resource teacher is already "strapped" at the school, so she didn't think that the person would be able to be available for . We've had major budget cuts in the county, so I'm not sure they'd be able to hire someone else for the school. Which I know is not a reason for not providing services, but the school might word things in such a way as to show that there is not a need at the school for more resource services... -Melinda
Guest guest
You have the right to ask for a meeting to change an IEP if you feel it's needed. I only received an email last month from the school requesting that I sign a form that would drastically change my daughter's IEP...no meeting was needed they said, I only had to sign it. So the school handled it via email, then a signed form. Later, I asked for a meeting due to concerns I've been having about my dd, and it led to changes being made at my request. Good luck! Guest guest
The school needs to provide her with what she needs to learn. If they think she needs tutoring, then they need to provide that. Roxanna " The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. " E. Burke ( ) Resources?
