We have read this book and you're right, it is great. How large is this book? I tried to reserve at my local library, but it was 532 pages or 20 hours on sound discs! And there were a lot of holds, which is good, isn't it?

House Rules was an excellent book but it was so close to home that it left me in a severe depression for about 6 weeks after reading it. It did the same to my husband. Buyer beware......

"House Rules," for me, while well-written, was almost too much of an emotional experience. Much of it is an aspie parent's worst-case scenario. Picoult indeed did her research, however, I would say that she saddled her aspie character with almost too many characteristics of AS/HFA, as he tends to hit every sensory issue, educational issue, etc., to the extreme.

Why - is the story very sad? Or just seeing it written down is hard to take?

It was an excellent book and great " capturing " of our reality done in it. It was

hard to take though, so be sure you're in the state of mind for it. I love that

she incorporated Aspergers into one of her great stories!

It's not as long as it sounds! I only get to read in the bathroom and I finished

it within a week!

It looks like a good book so I put it on hold at my library. But I don't want to invite weeks of depression either. Now I'm not sure...lol. What a book report, Debra! lol.
