==>No, do not take this product, not only because of the soybean oil,

but also because Glycerin is sugar and you do not want titanium dioxide

color. There are much better cal/mag products out there. It is better

if you buy calcium and magnesium separately so you can regulate the

amount of mag you take according to my article. You'd probably get

less problems with loose stools if you get mag glycinate and spread out

the doses more throughout the day.

You could buy your calcium and magnesium together from

http://www.vitacost.com. There's a product called Null's Super

Calcium Magnesium Citrate, and the calcium and magnesium are balanced. If

that's too much magnesium citrate for your gut, then I'm sure you could

just find your supplements in similar-dosed sizes.

The problem with cutting off some of the pill, I'd guess, is that you

don't know how much of the filler you're getting rid of and how much of

the actual supplement you're getting rid of.

How much are you taking per day? If you're taking 1000mg, that's easy.

You'd take 5 Mg and 4 Ca. If you're taking 500, that'd be easy too 'cause

you could take 2 Ca and then use a pill spitter to take 2.5 Mg. I think

you have a lot of options.

Good luck!

Should we be concerned with taking too much calcium? Or other

supplements? My dad has been on the Atkins diet for years, and he has

begun to have severe kidney stones the last two years. His last

episode he was in Mexico (they live there part year) and the doc there

said the stones were (at least partly) due to his taking too many

supplements especially Calcium. Another doc who is their neighbor

agreed (FYI- she does know about and acknowledge candida so she isn't

completely brain dead like most docs I have met in the US).

^^^ My mom had kidney stone from taking calcium too

late at night. The doc siad its not taking the

calcium that was the culprit in her case, just dont

take it too close to bedtime and make sure you take

lotz of water throughout the day. She was in such

pain till she passed them, then they never came back

again. I think she was also taking fosimax and that contributed.

==>, yes taking calcium without other minerals, and

particularly without magnesium will cause kidney stones to form.

But most doctors only recommend taking high doses of calcium and no

magnesium. My sister is a nurse and even her doctor recommended

1,500 mg per day but no magnesium. My sister knows better however.

Also the amount of calcium recommended is way way too high.

It is important to only take the amount of cal/mag recommended,

except for small adjustments according to individual needs, usually

more magnesium, and to ensure you are getting sodium & chloride

(salt) from ocean sea salt which contains over 84 other minerals.

Sodium and chloride are also very important for absorbing and

utilizing minerals. In addition this diet contains a lot of

minerals.

==>Marei, it is not true that taking calcium too close to bedtime

caused your mom's kidney stones, nor does lack of water cause it.

What causes kidney stones is too much calcium without other minerals

to balance it out.

==>That is correct Nell. Natural Factors has calcium citrate 350 mg

of elemental calcium and Magnesium citrate 150 mg of elemental

magnesium.

==>It is better to get a citrate form, rather than a chelate. Most

chelates contain soy. Cal/mag requires acid in order to be absorbed,

and that's why it must be the citrate form. Maybe write a message

asking the group for help on sources also noting what country you

live in.

my son is having a problem with almost every cal/mag supplement i've tried and

i'm

wondering if this is normal? we're on the dolmite powder right now and he's been

waking up

at night crying and today he's been up since 5 am. i'm wondering if his body is

just adjusting

to it as we've never supplemented it before. should i give it more time? try

something else?

we've been dairy free his whole life so i know he needs it, we've tried standard

processes

cal/mag, solary, one, nature's sunshine, coral cal. you name it we've tried it

and the same

thing happens-very emotional and sleep problems.

thanks

> Good morning Bee, I bought the calcium and magnesium supplements seperate like

you recommended. I purchased them in powder form, but the doses per teaspoon of

each vary. The magnesium is 630mg per teaspoons and the calcium is 700mg per

teaspoon. I wanted to begin taking equal amounts of eack like you said we

should, but it is very difficult to calculate the exact amount. What I am doing

is taking a teaspoon of the magnesium and a bit under a teaspoon of the calcium,

since it offers more per teaspoon. Is this ok?

>

+++Hi kelly. You need to split the total amount of 600 mg of each, into 2

doses, so take 1/2 teaspoon of magnesium, and less than 1/2 teaspoon of calcium

two times a day.
