Guest guest
im partial to following the rules, rules of facebook are you must be 13 to have an account so i made my dd wait till then. i do let my 10 yr old play games on my account though. you could try something else that is a social network for kids like club penguin, neopets, toontown or a pay one like webkinz, buildabearville, etc i believe there is a batman one too On Fri, Sep 17, 2010 at 3:25 PM, bucaroobonzai2003 <bucaroobonzai2003@...> wrote: My son is 9 and homeschooled, and I'm thinking that letting him go on facebook with supervision would probably help with socialization (and typing for that matter). Guest guest
It seems to be good for socializing but I have found some bullying if you are not supervising.-- Sent from my Palm PreOn Sep 17, 2010 15:40, bucaroobonzai2003 <bucaroobonzai2003@...> wrote: My son is 9 and homeschooled, and I'm thinking that letting him go on facebook with supervision would probably help with socialization (and typing for that matter). Guest guest
I personally think 9 is too young. My NT social butterfly 9 year old daughter wants to be on it badly but i've said no because she's too young. For a child with Aspergers, I think it would even be worse. I would concentrate more time on face to face social skills.Sent via BlackBerry by AT&TFrom: "bucaroobonzai2003" <bucaroobonzai2003@...>Sender: Date: Fri, 17 Sep 2010 19:25:47 -0000< >Reply Subject: ( ) Facebook and our kids.... Guest guest
My son doesn't even have any interest in Facebook but he likes online games. He plays Runescape and World of Warcraft which is mostly for people 13+ but there is one called Fantage that is supposed to be okay for younger kids. They can interact with other people but it is heavily monitored and I never see bad language. There are lots of little puzzle games. I have the free membership and can't imagine every having a paid one but kids might enjoy a paid membership more because they can get more clothes for their character and participate in more activities. I think another one might be puzzle pirates but I'd check that to be certain. Disney's toontown might be another option but if you join and get a paid account it's a completely pain to try to cancel your membership. > > My son is 9 and homeschooled, and I'm thinking that letting him go on facebook with supervision would probably help with socialization (and typing for that matter). Guest guest
Personally, just for my daughter, I wouldn't give her a facebook account. When she speaks she has no filter for her mouth and there is no telling what she would say online and I would have to go to her account every time after she got online to defriend those she has friended. Guest guest
Welcome Romily! My two younger ds's loved Club penguin when they were younger. It seemed like a really nice place to hang out. And you didn't butt in at all!
