Birthday ideas for 9 year old boy

I'm looking for ideas for my son's get together. I'm going to invite 3 boys and would like some fun things to do--like only a couple of things to break up the electronic games for the boys. I've only done family parties for my boy so this will be a first for him. I want it to seem more than a playdate with friends, but not sure what to do honestly for the boys. Any suggestions? Thanks for any input!
