Guest guest
Lots of variation here. You should really ask your doc and he should have written guidelines for you. My original doc wanted fluids for 24 hrs then a day of soft then back to regular foods. You might wish to go over the 4 fill documents in the files to help you determine if the fill is good or perhaps too much. Good luck! Hope this one brings you closer to " just right " . Guest guest
And my original doc (also a top one in Tijuana) wanted you to go back to hotel, or to a restaurant if you weren't staying over, and eat a normal bandster meal. That way if you were too tight he could still take care of it before you crossed the border. I can see advantages either way. You see the same differences on pre-surgery weight loss, pre-surgery liquid diet for xx days, how long liquids after surgery, etc, etc. So far I've not found anything that " proves " one is right and another is wrong, at least in the scientific research sense of " prove " . Guest guest
Sorry I havent posted in awhile but things have been crazy for us... is fine but I have been having to make some tough decisions about the house and loosing it or the car...things are a mess financially being a single mom with no child support.. I'm sorry I havent participated in the board much I just havent had the opportunity as this weeks crisis was a broken refrigerator which I had no money to repair or get a new one...church family helped out and I am truly blessed. But thats not why I'm writing I feel like a crappy mom, I missed or the teacher didn't send home a note telling me when s ETR with the psychologist was number one....I don't think she sent something home because I read everything in the backpack and agenda book everyday. What concerned me was s Wellness homework... is in 6th grade and his mental capacity is , well it used to be two years delayed. He has severe fine motor skill delays the gross motor delays are getting better.....but those fine motor skills...I am just so worried. He cannot write his name or do his homework without hand over hand. He gets OT...I try and help him as much as I can but I cannot continue to do things for him like button his own pants zip his coat, tie his shoes..now he expects it and doesn't even try. They are teaching him to type on an Alpha Smart.. I worry that he is not learning.... I suggested at the IEP he be held back and they didn't think that was necessary but as things get harder for him I don't see him succeeding...I don't know what to do to help my child. Guest guest
Hey Roxanna, Today I voiced my concerns with the caseworker and the behaviorist and made a call to the teacher who has yet to call back. I went over his IEP again and was surprised to find out that the teacher did not send a copy to the caseworker. I think this lady is falling down on the job. When she calls I am going to ask her for a copy of the invitation letter (that I never received) for the ETR (MFE) and for it to be scheduled again. This time I have asked for the behaviorist and the caseworker to attend...that is if she calls me back...and if she doesnt today I will call her again on Monday. The OT report was all showing progress...but I am not seeing it at home. He has adaptive PT and gym class and they say they are working on things like buttoning snapping etc.. I will take your advice and ask for data to prove that he is improving....in the mean time my son is getting anxiety about changing schools and starting 7th grade. When I voiced my concern in the IEP last month their answer was well don't worry he can go to school till he's 20 or 21. And they we're in a big hurry to get me out of there. I have people backing me up I fully intend to take them with me if I can get her to call me back if not I guess I will have to call the principal. Guest guest
Don't worry, he can go to school until he's 21? I guess they don't mind wasting his life. It's one thing to go to school to age 21 when it is necessary to do so. But if you can graduate and then go on to your career or college, you would be doing better. That should be the goal that they are pushing for. I've heard once before of a lady who was always told not to worry since her kid could go to school an extra year or two. This was also a way to say, " Hey, we don't have to show sufficient progress since we have tons of extra time. " But the " extra time " was at the kid's expense. As for them being in a hurry to get you out of there, you just need to say, " I'm not done discussing this. When can we meet again to finish this meeting? " I'm sure they do want to move things along, especially if they have meetings coming after yours. But if it takes longer or you need more time to discuss it, feel free to ask to schedule another meeting! Don't sign off on anything until you get the answers you need! I hope you got in touch with all the people you were trying to find and got your meeting. I am behind reading posts but if you didn't update yet, I hope you will let us know how it went! Guest guest
There is so much stress with this economy. Doubly if you are a single Mom I am sure. I am so happy your church is supportive. You son sounds like a good boy. He doesn't sound like he is a behavior problem. How old is he? My daughter's fine motor skills did not improve until she was 12. She has not had OT since first grade either. You can have your child do the things OT do at home. They have them cartoon, use clay, draw, color, paint, do beads they are enjoyable for some kids and they may help. My daughter is still has a way to go on fine motor skills but there is improvement in handwriting. Your son will improve too. My daughter is taught on an alpha smart too. You can ask for another session or two of OT from the school. I thought OT really helped my daughter in her gross motor skills and coordination but not in the fine motor skills as much or as fast. Make sure you ask that he have a lunch buddy before this gets to be a problem. You seemed concerned that he was academically not keeping up at grade level in reading and math? Does he have an average IQ on the IQ test. I am sure they must have done one when they classified him. What is the reason he is behind by a few years? Does he have a reading issue? What are his academic problems?
