Guest guest
You would think she would be used to dealing with kids shutting down is she is a child psych. You would think she would at least try to get him to open up. Sorry you have to deal with that. I would probably wait and decide after the next session whether or not it is going to be a problem. > > we just started going to a child psych the 1st time he was great and no issues we go every 2 weeks i thought it might help me and my husband to get a better hold on things i asked what she thought about it though i understood that she had only seen him once she said ADHD definatly as did he pediatrician at first but he now suspects the longer and more he sees him and the adhd meds dont help as much of the issues he feels that they should he says aspies so that is why we are seeing the child psych b/c the school siad we need to as well we went for the second time and he had had a rough day at school earlier that week and she asked him about it and he shut down refused to talk interact at all with her or us was hiding a little and ignored her especially then she asked if this was a normal reaction and i affirmed that it is and then i felt she was upset with me b/c i didnt mention that that might happen she said the session was a waste and we would try agian next time now that she knows not to approach him that way she came so highly recomended by several people that i was really hoping that it was going to help now im scared that its a waste of time and money niether of wich i have alot to waste does anyone have any therapy experiences that they would like to share ?? thanks WG >
Guest guest
I agree give it another try and see how the therapy goes. You might have to find the right therapist that yourson will connect with. My 12 yo daughter was placed in therapy at school. Theythreatened to take me to court or therapy. How convenient it was for them to have an outside psychologist withan office at the school. My daughter would make fun of the sessions and therapist. Being right in the school it was an embarrassmentfor her to go. This was at $110 a session. I made the school pay for the sessions b/c my daughter has an IEP and forced to go.She sees a different therapist outside of school and loves it. So far this school year has been great! :)From: jm.smoldt <jm.smoldt@...> Sent: Tue, October 12, 2010 11:05:31 PMSubject: ( ) Re: Starting therapy = scared You would think she would be used to dealing with kids shutting down is she is a child psych.
