Guest guest
's Wonderland is in San and is a amusement park just for those with special needs.... Depending on how well he does with crowds there is Sea World in San , the Alamo, the Riverwalk (which I LOVE!), Schlitterbahn (which is a HUGE waterpark halfway in between Austin and San ) and super old missions are all over San ..... I love visiting there Carolyn From: <rachelfran@...> Sent: Thu, March 10, 2011 7:16:45 AMSubject: ( ) anyone in austin or san antonio? We're finally (after 7 years) going to visit my husband's family at the end of April. They are in San & Austin so we'll probably split our time between them. Does anyone have a one sheet on Asperger's that I can share with them to bring them up to date on my son? The last time we were there he was just 2 and was a typical toddler with a little more thrown in but we were pre-diagnosis, pre-therapy, etc. They know he has Asperger's but have never seen it in action. Secondly -- can anyone recommend any activities in either place that would be fun for my 9 1/2 yr old son? Any restaurants, play places, interactive museums? Thanks! Guest guest
Hi again , This is a copy and paste from the same article I sent already directly from the website. Sorry for the repeat but I wasn't sure how or if the first one would send correctly. Behavioral Manifestations Reacting poorly to new events, transitions, or changes. Becoming easily overwhelmed and having difficulty calming down. Demonstrating unusual fears, anxiety, tantrums, and showing resistance to directions from others. Having a narrow range of interests, and becoming fixated on certain topics and/or routines. Insisting on having things and/or events occur in a certain way. Creating their own set of rules for doing something. Preferring to do the same things over and over. Wanting things to go their way, when they want them to, no matter what anyone else may want. They may argue, throw a tantrum, ignore you, growl, refuse to yield, etc. Having trouble playing and socializing well with peers or avoiding socializing altogether. They prefer to be alone because others do not do things exactly as they do. Lecturing others or engaging in a monologue rather than having a reciprocal conversation. Eating a narrow range of foods. Intensely disliking loud noises and crowds. Demanding unrealistic perfection in their handwriting, or wanting to avoid doing any writing. Tending to conserve energy and put forth the least effort they can, except with highly preferred activities. Remaining in a fantasy world a good deal of the time and appearing unaware of events around them. Displaying a good deal of silly behaviors because they are anxious or do not know what to do in a situation.
