I am not sure if it is still meeting.  I think they place an add in the

Wenatchee paper.

The group at the PUD is no longer active. I am trying to get a group started

here with the help of at Pacific Nutrition in Edmonds. She is willing

to help us get started if we get the interest. Send her an email letting her

know you are interested. Visit www.pacificnutritionwellness.com

There is a soup nite at Top Foods in Shoreline on the last Thursday of the

month. This

group used to meet at Northgate but most of us regulars are from Shoreline so we

moved

it. Plus we were hoping this would attract people in Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace,

etc.

We would love for you to join us. Hope to see you next week.

I have started a support group (initially for Mexico patients of Dr. Kuri), but

we welcome anyone that is banded or thinking about it and needs questions

answered.  We have the meeting two times per month... typically the first and

third Thursdays of the month (July is different... next meeting is July 24th) at

my parent's home in Everett from 7-9 pm.  If you are interested in attending,

please email me at kamicola@... and I would love to have you join us!

  • 1 year later...

I became the primary caregiver to my 16 yr old niece after her mother, my aunt

died. Her mother's death was in August of last year. While in counsoling for

her mother's death, she was finally correctly diagnosed with Aspergers.

This is the perfect storm if you will. 16 yrs old, grieving for her mother,

hormone's and coming to terms with having aspergers. Guess more than anything

I'm just needing to vent.

I've raised my children, and was finally at a point in my life where it was " me

time " . As selfish as that sounds, it's not meant to be. I'm feeling very

overwhelmed, and a little resentful.

I'm reading, learning and applying the skills I've learned in how to handle,

teach and improve her life. I'm feeling like I'm getting a little lost in all of

this.

Well you're only human, I'm sure you do miss that " me time " you earned! So it

was really kind of you to take in your niece, and a teenager at that. And a

teenager who is grieving. I imagine you do have your hands full! Were you two

close before her mother died, see each other much before that? Just wondering

if she feels comfortable yet with all this or if you hadn't known each other

well. Did she have to change schools?

I'm just starting the " me time " this year, all 3 sons out of the home now, at

college, etc. And I'm a single mom/divorced. My Aspergers son is 21 now and

went to the community college his first 2 years and then this past fall moved to

a university.

Feel free to vent here, I've been through those teen years with all 3 sons and

others here have teens or those getting there! Any area dealing with Aspergers

and/or teens you want to ask about, for suggestions, anything?
