Guest guest
, my 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with asperger at 6 then also adhd (and we dont agree with the h part). recently we did a study at the yale medical center and they said she falls right on the cusp of PDD NOS and ASPERGER. because of her speech issues (stuttering and such) she falls more on the PDD NOS. anyway, dont wait for the school. make an appointment with a neurologist. they can diagnose him. if he is diagnosed with either or any, then get the report to the school. after that " they have no choice " . they must do their best to get him what he needs. dont wait for schools to help. unless your child has his face on a $100 bill, they wont even pay attention to him, and will do anything to quiet you. once the diagnosis is made by a neurologist, theyre dead. make that appointment. they wont push it. > > Hello, > > My name is, , I have a 12 year old son with pdd nos. My son has characteristics of ADHD and ASPERGERS. He entered middle school last fall(6th grade). He has had a terrible year, he's being bullied, he's unable to do his homework, the school has been mostly supportive but I am awaiting a decision on an IEP, I think the school system doesn't want to give him an IEP because of costs, because of our economy, the school system is operating on a shoestring budget. > I need all the help and support that this group has to offer, I suffer with chronic pain so I am already stressed, I just don't know how to help my son, he has an emotional level of an 8 or 9 year old, and has a high intellect. Is there anyone out there that knows about any local support groups in Cumming, Georgia? Does anyone know what I should do about getting my son a tutor? I would like to find a tutor that is familiar with children with learning disablities(he has a language related disability). I don't want to go on and on, though I could. I would greatly appreciate and and all help. > > Thank you, > > >

Guest guest
, There is also a school in Roswell Ga, called The Porter School. They offer multisensory teaching utilizing a speech pathologist and occupational therapist who work directly in the classroom. Give them a shout and ask them about their services, if they service your district or have local contacts for you. Guest guest
There is an Aspergers group that gets together in the Canton area in Cherokee County. I would love to go sometime but they're a little too far away from me since I practically live downtown. They have a meetup group. Go to meetup.com and type in " cherokee county aspergers syndrome support group " to find the group. They seem like nice people. I feel your pain. Middle School is unbelievably tough for our kids, especially if they're being bullying. That's why I pulled my daughter out mid-year in 6th grade. We tried both Cobb and Cherokee public schools before making this decision. a > > > From: ppanda65@... <ppanda65@...> > Subject: Re: ( ) 12 y.o. recently diagnosed with pdd nos > > Date: Wednesday, February 24, 2010, 5:54 PM > > > > > > > > > > You may want to contact your local Parent Information Training Project to see if they can lend any support to you around these educational issues: >  > > PARENT TRAINING AND INFORMATION PROJECT Shepard, Project Director > Parents Educating Parents & Professionals for All Children (PEPPAC) > 8318 Durelee Lane, Suite 101 > ville, GA 30134 > (770) 577-7771 > E-mail: PEPPAC@... > >  > > In a message dated 2/22/2010 7:38:21 P.M. Guest guest
, there is a meetup group in your area. Go to meetup.com and type in aspergers and your location, and this is the one I found http://www.meetup.com/Social-group-for-Asperger-kids-ages-8-13/You can email other parents on there and find local help and outings for your son to meet friends. I recently connected with another mom on my meetup group and we swapped ideas and resources. We're planning an outing for our sons at a bowling alley. From: <video228@...>Subject: ( ) Re: 12 y.o. recently diagnosed with pdd nos Date: Monday, February 22, 2010, 10:27 PM , my 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with asperger at 6 then also adhd (and we dont agree with the h part). recently we did a study at the yale medical center and they said she falls right on the cusp of PDD NOS and ASPERGER. because of her speech issues (stuttering and such) she falls more on the PDD NOS. anyway, dont wait for the school. make an appointment with a neurologist. they can diagnose him. if he is diagnosed with either or any, then get the report to the school. after that "they have no choice". they must do their best to get him what he needs. dont wait for schools to help. unless your child has his face on a $100 bill, they wont even pay attention to him, and will do anything to quiet you. once the diagnosis is made by a neurologist, theyre dead. make that appointment. they wont push it. > > Hello, > > My name is, , I have a 12 year old son with pdd nos. Guest guest
Oops, hit send by accident but had another thought., there is a meetup group in your area. I contacted a local college that has a special ed curriculum and their graduate students have to spend so many hours with special needs kids, so maybe you can get them to help with tutoring him. One mom has a student come over one night every week and it gives her a chance to run her errands and it's free.Hope this helps,GenFrom: <video228@...>Subject: ( ) Re: 12 y.o. recently diagnosed with pdd nos Date: Monday, February 22, 2010, 10:27 PM , my 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with asperger at 6 then also adhd (and we dont agree with the h part). recently we did a study at the yale medical center and they said she falls right on the cusp of PDD NOS and ASPERGER. because of her speech issues (stuttering and such) she falls more on the PDD NOS. anyway, dont wait for the school. make an appointment with a neurologist. they can diagnose him. if he is diagnosed with either or any, then get the report to the school. after that "they have no choice". they must do their best to get him what he needs. dont wait for schools to help. unless your child has his face on a $100 bill, they wont even pay attention to him, and will do anything to quiet you. once the diagnosis is made by a neurologist, theyre dead. make that appointment. they wont push it. > > Hello, > > My name is, , I have a 12 year old son with pdd nos.
