Guest guest
Can you give us some more information? What type of help are you looking for? Help with school issues, social skills, behavioral? Have you talked to the doctor that diagnosed your son? Usually they can refer you to specialist that treat specific issues. There are no specific medicines for treating Aspergers but the doctors will usually treat the symptoms. If a child has ADHD sypmptoms they can treat that with medicine. If they have anxiety they can treat that with medicine. If they have anger issues they can treat that with medicine. If you are looking for help with school issues the public schools cannot pick and choose what disablities they will accept. Every child must be given the appropriate services they need. This is determined not by a doctors diagnosis but by the results of school related evaluations. If you are looking for some sort of therapy you should look for a behavioral center that works with kids with ADHD or Autism. Psychologist and Clinical Social Workers that treat ADHD should be able to work with a child that has ADHD and Aspergers. Hope this helps some. Guest guest
I would actually call or email your states' autism society. Here, it's listed as asw@... (we're in Wisconsin.....and the AS is for "autism society". The phone number should be on the site. I hope you get some help. Hugs, It really is simple. Just treat others kindly and with respect. Guest guest
Start with the County, get a Mental Health Case worker assigned. They can make you aware of services available in your community, hook you up with County Medical, inform you of programs and support groups in your county. They can also help give you a voice in IEP's , if they're able to attend (ours does). They can set up a crisis plan for you if your child's behavior escalates to a dangerous level... and they can work in tandem with you, the schools, and any professional therapy you might be utilizing. I can't guarantee you'll have the same level of participation we do, but it is where I started.
