Guest guest
My daughter does this to. I think for her its a tactile sensory thing. It just feels good for her. I get annoyed because then theres a mess, but I stopped and just started politely asking her to clean it up. We are peaceful once again :-D On Mar 17, 2010, at 5:16 PM, theresa wrote: My daughter likes to play this game on the computer, but we have noticed afterwards that she has sat there and torn things up. Usually it is erasers or paper or today it was a flower that she tore apart. I haven’t figured it out yet and when I ask her, she doesn’t know. I am wondering, because I would rather get her something to squeeze etc instead of her tearing things apart.Theresa “Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... Guest guest
My dd avoids any games, computer ones or any other types, because she can't handle it if she doesn't win or do as well as others. She's so self-conscious and it hurts to see her so sad/upset. She's thrown things or torn things, etc., too. For my dd, it often seems to be an outlet for her frustration (or adrenaline rush, depending on the situation). It could be a sensory issue as another poster mentioned, too. It certainly can't hurt to have a stress ball handy, or tie one of those wider stretch bands (used for strengthening exercises) to each of the front two legs of her chair, so her feet can bounce against it or stretch it, etc. Trial and error...trial and success--sooner or later, we can figure out what helps our children best. Take care! --Kari > > My daughter likes to play this game on the computer, but we have noticed > afterwards that she has sat there and torn things up.
