Guest guest
My daughter is 12 years old and has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome with ADHD and depression and anxiety. She is driving us nuts with her continued destruction of our house and belongings. She has peeled the veneer strips of all of our bookcases, her bed and her brother's bed. She currently is stripping the bathroom door. She breaks most of them into pieces about 3 inches long and collects them. She carves wood banisters with a knife(I hid all knives). She breaks and chews pencils into pieces and collects the leads. We are all tired of all the slivers of wood in our carpets/furniture/laundry! These are things that have begun and increased with frequency over the past year. She began Middle school a year ago. She is more destructive than ever! Has your child done this? What can I try to get this behavior to stop? Is it sensory? impulsive? compulsive? what???? Can anyone help?
