Guest guest
My son had a wonderful program in junior high (and now high school) called the Alternate Learning Program. Students had a regular home room and attended regular classes as much as they could. The ALP was a " quiet room " that had a refrigerator, microwave, desks and 2 teachers and a teacher aid. If a student felt they needed extra help, or if they were too nervous about going to a particular calls, they could spend it in the ALP room and the teacher of that particular subject would send the work down there. They developed a nice camaraderie and most students chose to eat lunch in this room, which was kind of a support group. As a group, they've gone to football games and most recently the homecoming dance. I never would have thought that my son would have been able to succeed in a regular junior high and high school, but he has made the honor roll every time and is happy to go to school.
