Hello Everyone,

I am new to this list. My son was diagnosed Asperger's last month. He is eight

years old. It has been quite a journey. I feel relieved to know what I have

suspected for a long time, but there is also a certain heaviness that comes with

the diagnosis.

I am curious if anyone is familiar with any articles/research about how cell

phones, towers, and wi-fi might affect these sensitive kids. We live very near

to a cell tower and I wonder how this could have possibly effected my son in

utero or even now if it causes some level of " interference " in his mind.

Just wondering if anyone else has considered this or read anything about it.

Thanks!

Jessie

hi Jessie,

Very interesting, did not think about this. I have not read anything about

tower cells, I only know that magnetic radiation has to be harmful in some way

or another, that is why I do not use a cell phone, but I don't know anything

else. Sorry.

I am new at this web site too, my son is being diagnosed now with Asperger's he

is also 8 years old, hang in there is a long jorney, I wish the best of luck to

you and stay in this web site that I think is great fro support. We all need

it, what is your State and School District? I hope you are in a good one, your

journey will be much easier if you are in a good district.

Happy mothers day to you and all the Mothers here,

Jessie I wouldn't worry about this. There are many ingested

posions such as lead or alcohal that can cause brain changes

but not comunication systems. I have read that autism and many

of the anxiety and mood disorders are caused by a combination

of genetic factors not just one gene.

I have also read that kids and adults do better in settings that

are not so busy so if your community has cell towers but is not

a crowded area it may help your son to have lower stimulation

with noise and visual things.

Many kids with autism (Asperger included) have a slow procesing

speed so that they feel there is too much going on. This

accounts for why some of them get so overwhelmed. Keeping

life structured and low key goes a long way.
