We JUST finished this for my 10 year old!! We went through Dr. Block - she only

does it for 2 weeks - Monday through Friday, and no longer sends the light home.

It has been 2 weeks now since we finished. We were told that most of the

improvement will probably come down the road and he builds upon the

improvements. What we have noticed so far:

More words and phrases

Less " stimming "

His teacher has commented about him seeming more " with it "

He feels pain more readily

His smile is normal - he has had a crooked smile forever!!

His eyes seem less glazed and more normal

He is calmer

I hope to continue to see more improvements as time goes on.

Thanks CJ I am really wanting to try this with my child and we are hoping to

get one in Houston within the next year. Just wanting to make sure that it

wasn't just another money making deal and apparently ti is not.

Our son went through the program in June. Let me start by saying

that the experience itself was very positive. We were very impressed

with the Mulvany's, the staff, and clinic. However, I'm not so sure

that our son benefited from the Sensory Learning program. I know

that a good number of parents have seen very positive results and

feel that the program was huge for their child. Like any

intervention, therapy or diet, there are kids that benefit and those

that don't. Just wish there was a way that we could know this ahead

of time! I don't regret giving it a try. Our mottto is " Leave no

Stone Unturned " . Every child is different and it is always good to

consider what other parents have found beneficial.

Amy,

You are absolutely right! Not everyone benefits from all programs-

obviously that is true. ie Floortime did not work with us- it didn't fit

into our family lifestyle and Colter's needs- but it works so well for

so many others- we keep trying maybe someday it will be the ticket. I am

sorry you didn't see anything with your beautiful little guy. I just

know what it has done for my little guy and we were and still are

pleased... I guess it is expectation sometimes- my expectations were

very low- so we were shocked at all the improvement on the otherside it

is a Sensory, Vision and Auditory issue- Colter had major problems in

those areas so it did help him dramatically.

I hope to here from you soon- did you make it to Forsyth??? If you are

still in the south ARC call we have some exciting things going on- over

here- have to share!

Take care!

Amy, you have a great attitude! I believe the same thing --every intervention is not for every child. We're going to try any program as long as we know it won't harm in any way. If one thing doesn't work, we scratch it off the list and go onto the next. Cost, time and effort are not an issue when it comes to helping . It sounds like you feel the same way about your son.

And , you mentioned Colter seeking the SL table. That's so familiar to us! During the 1st 2 days of therapy, pulled me to the OT room (where all the fun stuff is) wanting me to let him in, but from the 3rd day on, he pulled me to the table. I'm still blown away by this. Apparently, his brain is getting the stimulation it needs, and almost daily he's been doing things he's never done before. I can't wait to see what's going to happen over the next 2 or 3 months.
