Guest guest
Recent posts on weight and hunger: One thing I didn't see mentioned that I think we all sometimes forget is that Dr. Natasha makes a big point of how important it is to have lots of vegetables with your meat/protein. It balances out the ph. One other advantage of that, I'm finding, is that you can drown the veggies in fat of some sort or another, and that's another way to feel satiated and full. We are routinely eating about three vegetables with dinner, one might be a salad with olive oil dressing, another might be greens or broccoli or whatever else is seasonal, cooked with lots of bacon fat (from home-cured bacon!) or with liberal ghee (we're not doing butter yet), and the third might be kraut or kimchi. I'm trying to get more mayo into our meals too. (Anne Marie, I tried the mayo with part coconut oil, and while I thought it was delicious, I can't say that the coconut oil taste was disguised, it definitely tasted of coconut oil to me.... How do you achieve that? Maybe it depends on type of VCO?) At any rate, I'm trying hard to put weight on my 8-year-old son - he was recently very sick twice and lost even more weight, and I think we're back to where we were, so that's something. I also let him eat spoonfuls of Wilderness Family Naturals coconut spread whenever he wants. Scalp question: I am all of a sudden experiencing terrible...dandruff! It goes away when I wash my hair, which I usually only do about once a week, but by day 5 or 6, I have terrible flaking and itching. What could this mean? I used to have dandruff years ago but it had not been an issue for quite a number of years. Why now? Eczema: I had reported before on how my hand eczema initially went away, then came back with reintroduction of yogurt, then seemed to be lessening again. Now it's much worse again and I'm discouraged. Anyone else have any success stories to report on eczema? I don't know whether to stop dairy or not, I sure would prefer not to... Kefir dripping: Does anyone have experience making whey from kefir? I have done it for years from yogurt, Dr. Natasha said kefir is better, but when I do it I get a whole lot less whey than from yogurt, and a good bit of it just drips up the dish towel instead of into the bowl! Any good tips for this? I usually get about 1 cup of whey from yogurt, have been getting 1/2 to 3/4 cup of whey from kefir. Thanks, all, I continue to learn so much from this list!
