Guest guest
I have tried to post before but was unsuccessful, I really hope I can get through this time. My son has SPD and is 3 years old. I put him on Tri-Enza a few months ago. We had moderate success. It made me hopeful so I contacted a pediatric nutritionist who specializes in special needs children. After we went through my sons history she told me the it was very obvious he was going to need to go off of dairy and then wheat. (Could not tolerate milk the first 6 months, chronic ear infections, massive toxic stools, etc) I then took him off of dairy without any irritation. I had slowly begun to reduce his wheat intake. He officially went off wheat 12 days ago. The Gluten withdrawals were really bad. The third day being the worst. After that we saw gradual improvement in his behavior-except his stools were still very soft and yellow to orange. But he had a great next few days-clear, very calm and no aggression. But by Sunday afternoon he started to speak in a strained voice, a little squealing and he bit his cousin. He seemed restless and wired. By Monday morning he was speaking in a weird strained voice, squealing, pinching, biting and having a hard time with transitions. By mid-day Monday I took him off of all starches. (btw-before this, I might have gone a little crazy with the GFCF pancake, waffle, banana bread mixes, etc. b/c i was scared he was not going to eat anything) Today (Wednesday) his behavior is worse than when he went through the Gluten withdrawals. To be honest, it is a little scary. Impulsive, squealing, pinching, biting, hitting, pinching himself, etc. I am assuming this is a yeast/bacteria issue. I basically removed one thing (wheat) and replaced it with another starch (rice, potato, corn) and he is obviously having a negative reaction. I just started giving him probiotics today with the Tri-Enza enzymes and he has had no starches since Monday at lunch. My questions is: What the heck is going on? Is there anything else I can do to help him? How long does something like this last? Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
